Drumlanrig Castle and Country Estate
Drumlanrig Castle and Country Estate, just north of Thornhill, is the historic 17th Century Renaissance home of the Dukes of Buccleuch and Queensberry. As well as the beautiful and majestic 'Pink Palace' full of art treasures, the estate offers Victorian gardens, ancient woodlands, waymarked walking routes, championship cycle routes and a wealth of wildlife. Add to that retail studios and places to eat making Drumlanrig a uniqe cycling location.
The trails at Drumlanrig play host to Scottish and UK mountain bike events and are fast gaining a reputation as a premier place to ride.
Choose from a selection of swooping family tails through the tranquil woodlands of the Drumlanrig Country Estate or test your skills on gnarly 'old school' single track.
There are showers, bikewash, a bike shop and a cafe on site so you can scrub up and refuel after a day on the trails.
Kirkpatrick Macmillan, one-time blacksmith at Drumlanrig and inventor of the bicycle, lived nearby and a reproduction of his velocipede can be seen at our Scottish Cycle Museum in the Stableyard - a must for enthusiasts.
To complete your trip to Drumlanrig, why not enjoy some free time at our fantastic Adventure Playground - great fun for all ages!
