Fishing

Dumfries and Galloway has a selection of some of the finest rivers in Scotland and every type of fishing is catered for. There are hundreds of great sea fishing locations on our 200 miles of coastline and our rivers are excellent.

The River Annan is a lovely river packed with trout and salmon of the very highest calibre. Permits are available online at and permits are available from the website at www.fishpal.com/Scotland/Annan.

The River Nith, from its source near New Cumnock to the Nith Estuary, is arguably one of Scotland’s most productive Salmon rivers. Find out all you need to know about the Nith as well as online booking at www.fishnith.co.uk

If you’d prefer to visit the west of the region visit www.gallowayangling.co.uk/ where you’ll find a site packed with information about fishing in Galloway.

The New Galloway Angling Association manages the River Ken which is home to lots of wild brown trout, pike and perch.

Many of the local estates offer private fishing and there are plenty of local fisheries where stocks are kept well topped up.
