Since 1838 when local lad Kirkpatrick Macmillan first rode around the region on the world’s first ever bicycle Dumfries and Galloway has been a cyclist’s paradise. We’ve got some superb scenery too, so where better to come for the 21st Century’s ultimate biking experience?
Dumfries and Galloway is home to five of the internationally renowned 7stanes mountain biking centres and is right next door to the other two. From Kirroughtree and Glentrool in the west, through Dalbeattie and Mabie to Ae there’s a trail to suit all abilities and ages.
It’s the natural place to eat, sleep and ride some of Scotland’s most tempting mountain bike trails.
- Excellent blend of green and blue graded trails, and red and orange graded routes. Friendly café and bike shop with hire available, showers and a bikewash.
- Families will enjoy the green and blue graded routes, and experienced riders the rocky red and black graded routes and the 1.5km skills trails.
- Big Country Route - graded green and blue, on minor public roads and forest roads with no singletrack. Seasonal café and toilets at trailhead.
- Some of the best singletrack in the country and also a family favourite. Seasonal café, bike shop and hire and a kids’ play area.
- Green and blue trails on forest roads and singletrack, a 17km red route and a 3.8km orange bike park graded trail. Café, bike shop and hire and toilets also on site.
