7stanes - Glentrool

A unique trail centre. The whole of the Big Country Route is graded green and blue and is on minor public roads and forest roads with no singletrack. With 58km to cover riders are treated to magnificent wide open views as well as sheltered woodland. There are some testing climbs on this challenging but rewarding ride. A seasonal café and toilets are available at the trailhead.

Glentrool is nestled deep in the wild heart of the Galloway Hills and features two waymarked green routes. The Glen is 6km of mostly singletrack and Palgowan offers 14km of almost all forest roads. The Green Torr blue route is a great starter for riders who want to move up a gear. Classed as moderate in difficulty and length it has a fairly challenging 219m climb to the Green Torr with great views over Loch Trool leading to a fast, long descent to the visitors’ centre. Unique to Glentrool is the Big Country CTC route which provides riders with a challenging day of testing climbs and big descents on 58km of quiet back roads and forest tracks. There’s also a seasonal cafe and toilets at the trailhead.
