7stanes - Mabie
The original mountain bike venue in Dumfries and Galloway. Its green and blue trails on forest roads and singletrack offer an ideal introduction to the sport while the skills area is ideal for practicing before moving up a grade. In addition there’s a 17km red route and the 3.8km orange bike park graded trail. Café, bike shop and hire and toilets also on site.
Mabie’s main feature is its hills and the green Big Views Loop makes the most of them. Riders can look out over the Solway Firth and Nith Estuary without too much of a climb on mostly forest road which has been laid out to create an easy, enjoyable ride. The blue Woodhead Loop takes in the far side of the forest on quiet forest roads and some easy sections of singletrack. The Mabie Phoenix Trail is a red-graded mixed cross country route through some stunning woodland with natural trails and the classic 7stanes singletrack. The Kona Dark Side orange bike park is definitely for experts only and it’s recommended that you walk it first so there are no nasty surprises. At 23km the purple graded Lochbank Loop takes in most of the forest on public and forest roads. Race round or take in the views – it’s really up to you.
